Rooted in Neighborhoods. Rising Together.

At the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC), we believe that the people who live in a community are the ones best equipped to transform it. Since our founding in 1994, we’ve partnered with residents, neighborhood organizations, and grassroots leaders to strengthen the fabric of Indianapolis—one block at a time.

Our work is grounded in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), a philosophy that focuses on what's strong—not what's wrong. We provide accessible training, coaching, and resources that support neighbors in creating positive, lasting change where they live. Whether it's building leadership skills, organizing around a shared concern, or fostering connections across differences, we’re here to walk alongside communities as they rise.

From longtime neighborhood leaders to new changemakers, INRC is a trusted partner and convener. We support those who are building safer, more inclusive, and more vibrant neighborhoods—because when residents are equipped to lead, entire communities thrive.

Our Story

From One Block to an Entire City

Founded in 1994, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC) was created to support the power of people and place. What began as a local effort to strengthen neighborhood associations has grown into a citywide movement—empowering residents, training leaders, and supporting neighborhoods in becoming more connected, inclusive, and resilient.

We don’t bring the solutions - we help neighbors uncover their own.

What We Do

Tools, Training and Trust for Community Change

INRC supports grassroots leadership and resident-led action through a wide range of programs and services, including:

  • Leadership Training & Coaching – like the Indianapolis Community Building Institute and virtual Spark Sessions

  • Neighborhood Organizing & Technical Assistance – to strengthen resident associations and local initiatives

  • Facilitation & Planning – to help groups move from vision to action

  • Community Engagement Events – that foster trust and amplify resident voices

We meet people where they are - and help them go where they dream of being.
