About Neighbor Power Indy
Neighbor Power Indy is a gathering of people. It is a place to come together, to share, and to learn. Best of all, it is a place to interact with people who are actively engaged in their neighborhoods. Neighbor Power Indy offers the opportunity to promote positive change, foster connections, and create momentum.
One of the afternoon sessions is an event called, “Neighbor Tales” where presenters will have the opportunity to tell short, inspiring stories about living in their neighborhoods.
Why Tell Your Story?
- We don’t often take the time to celebrate our successes and share good news. Come and tell others how awesome it is to live in your community.
- Telling your story will give you the opportunity to highlight your positive experiences, share your joy, and inspire others.
- You will be part of a powerful program attended by a wide variety of people including neighborhood residents, community group leaders, business owners, representatives of local nonprofits, corporate and philanthropic partners, and government officials.
What to Share…
This year's theme is: “Won’t You be my Neighbor? Celebrating diverse and inclusive communities.” You can tell about some encounter with diversity you had in your neighborhood that impacted your life personally. Or you can share what positive changes you've seen, because of diversity and inclusivity in your neighborhood. You can talk about how non-inclusive/not diverse things used to be, how things have changed and the results of that change.
You can talk about anything that relates to your life in a neighborhood.

How Will It Work?
You can sign up to tell your Neighbor Tale when you register for Neighbor Power Indy 2018. (Registration will open in January of 2018.)
We will allow as many stories as possible, during the one-hour session, but storytellers must be registered before February 1st in order to participate. You will have 5 minutes to tell your story.
Neighbor Tales stories will be shared in a comfortable setting (think front-porch-sittin’).
How Will Neighbor Power Indy Support You?
For those who are hesitant about being a storyteller, there is an opportunity to take a class from a story-telling coach. The coach will conduct a workshop where you will receive guidance to help choose a topic, storytelling tips, and additional information to help you succeed.
