The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center is fortunate to have a group of engaged, passionate, and diverse members who help steer the strategic vision of the organization, ensuring a sustainable future and aligning with the priorities of the city of Indianapolis and our neighborhoods.
Board Service is a 2-year term that can be extended to three consecutive terms of 6 years total. Board members are traditionally slated in late summer and officially begin service at INRC's annual meeting; however, we welcome interest forms year-round!
Meetings are bi-monthly; they are held every other month (on even-numbered months), on the 4th Monday at 6 p.m. During the pandemic, meetings have begun at 5:30pm and are held via zoom.
INRC’s Board of Directors steers the strategic vision of the organization towards a sustainable future. The Board adopts governance and financial management policies, ensures that INRC has adequate resources to advance its mission, and shares INRC’s values of Asset-Based Community Development, collaboration, community engagement, developing talents, empowering others, and inclusion and diversity
Board member responsibilities include participation in bi-monthly board meetings and active involvement on one committee. Terms are two years.
We are currently recruiting for diverse leaders with expertise in the following areas:
- Marketing/public relations
- IT/Technology: hands-on expertise
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
INRC’s committees are open to community members regardless of board service and are where the work happens. Committees meet no more than monthly, and some meet every other month. INRC committees include:
Board Development and Governance: Supports and oversees activities to strengthen the Board of Directors, including managing the election process for directors and officers and providing ongoing training and education to board members.
Human Resources: Adopts forms and procedures for hiring, evaluation, and compensation for employees, and evaluates and recommends retirement, health care, and other benefit programs for employees.
Nominating Committee: Works to recruit board members and ensure they represent the diversity of Indianapolis and the neighborhoods and partners with whom INRC works.
Finance Committee: Reviews monthly income and expenditure reports, evaluates annual trends, and works alongside INRC’s Accountant and Auditor to ensure compliance and sustainability.
Community Building and Training Committee: Guides INRC through implementation of Community Building Initiatives and assists with the planning and evaluation of INRC’s programs.
Resource Development and Marketing Committee: Guides staff in marketing and fundraising activities, and supports special events of INRC.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee: Oversees a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion audit of INRC’s internal and external operations and relationships.
